Borussia Dortmund vs Heidenheim - Video Analysis
Borussia Dortmund pulled off a 4-2 win over Heidenheim on Friday night and turned in what was its most convincing performance from the first 3 matches. Nuri Sahin made a couple of changes to the lineup. Along with a debut for Serhou Guirassy, Ramy Bensebaini and Felix Nmecha were given starting opportunities.
Nico Schlotterbeck served his suspension and Emre Can was given a rest following international duty with Germany. Nmecha, in particular, seized his chance and provided a different look alongside Pascal Groß that translated to more vertical ball progression and sleeker retention than has been seen with Can.
Karim Adeyemi came to life in transition phases. Not without some Adeyemi-ish errors, but still much productive in the final 1/3 and that’s a positive. Pascal Groß pulled the usual strings and Malen found himself on the scoresheet. Full video analysis at the end, but here are some of the post-match statements and match stats.
Sebastian Kehl (in the mixed zone): "It was not an easy match. We should have wrapped it up beforehand. There were opportunities to do so. One or two people in the stands will have remembered last year. Today we did things differently and also deserved to win in the end, even if we made life slightly difficult for ourselves. In the first period in particular, we had several really good moments and heavily dominated the match.
Compliments to Karim Adeyemi, who showed really good movement between the lines, to Felix Nmecha, who played a really good game, and to Serhou Guirassy. He gave us a great deal: his presence, the number of balls he held up, how frequently he was fouled, how well he linked up. He hasn't even had a friendly, he came straight from his rehab phase over the course of recent weeks. It won't be long until he scores."
Karim Adeyemi (to DAZN): "We played a good match. The conceded goals were unnecessary. I took self-belief from the U21s. That helped me a lot. The coach trusted me and I showed him that I'm here. I'm happy about the two goals; I hoped that I would get a third one but the three points are more important."
